A Little Get Away

Last week we headed to Yellowstone for a couple days. The girls finished school on Tuesday and Trevor had Wednesday and Thursday off because he was scheduled to work Memorial Day weekend. It worked out perfectly.

The kids at Mammoth

We left Wednesday morning and took the Chief Joseph Highway to the northeast entrance. There was still A LOT of snow at Cooke City, but once we got into the park, it wasn't bad. We saw so many animals including: six bears (two grizzly, four black), lots of elk and their babies, bison and their babies, a bird we identified as some type of grouse, and mountain sheep.
We seemed to be some of the few English speakers. The kids were wondering how the other people could understand each other without talking "normal". We also seemed to be part of the attractions and got our pictures taken a few times. :o)
We stayed the night just outside the north entrance and then drove back through the next day. It was nice to get away just for a little bit and have a little fun. It seems we've been so busy this year that's it's been a long time since we've had time to relax and have fun as a family.
